Gardening & Wellness

The word ‘pottering’ could have been made for gardening. There’s something uniquely calming about wandering from plant to plant, peering under leaves to look for fruit or pulling out the odd weed. There’s no rush. There’s constant change to enjoy.  Wellbeing is seen to be about feeling good and functioning well and gardening is one of the practical actions that people can take everyday, which evidence tells us will improve their wellbeing.

Hello All!

A huge thank you to all you volunteers who met on the headland to help control the ragwort growing there. Rhys has confirmed that this ragwort session was approved by the Cornwall Council countryside officer and ecologist as they acknowledged that we were controlling it, not eradicating it, in order to prevent it becoming a greater problem in the future.

Dates for the diary:

CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER! Sept 24th -10am – 1.00pm Clean-up with Rhys Parry, the ranger for the Headland. We are meeting at 10am in the car park and will be working on grassland habitat management near the car park.

Oct 22nd  -10am – 1.00pm Working on grassland management or scrub management around the heathland. 10am meet up in the car park.

All tools will be provided but you can bring your own gloves and gardening forks if you prefer. Rhys will bring scythes and various other cutting tools for us to use and if people would like to bring forks and ‘loppers’ if you have any, that would be of help as well.

🌿We are really hoping for a good turnout so please come if you possibly can. What? You can’t stay long but would be able to pop by for an little while? Super! Drop in when you can. Any time you can spare would be grand! 🌿
